community bird guides
Community Bird Guides have been trained by BirdLife South Africa across the country and have been most successful when working within an established 'Birding Route' where long term support, mentoring and marketing are available.
The Mpumalanga Birding Route has a network of Community Bird Guides at two key birding sites, namely Wakkerstroom and Kaapsehoop. As part of the route's community development plan, more guides will be trained during 2009. The guides are affordable and provide you with improved security and valuable information on where some of our elusive and special bird species may be found.
