Hlatikulu Vlei

Hlatikulu Vlei is home to all three species of crane found in Southern Africa . The reserve is also home to approximately 80 other bird species.
Some of the specials found at Hlatikulu Vlei are Blue Crane, Grey Crowned Crane, Wattled Crane, Denham's Bustard, Cape Vulture, Bearded Vulture, Little Bittern, African Marsh-Harrier, Black Harrier, Freckled Nightjar, African Rail & Cape Eagle-Owl.
Directions
Take the R103 to Rosetta. At Rosetta take the Kamberg turnoff and follow this road for approximately 13km, at which point it becomes dirt. Turn left at the Entabeni sign and follow the road signage to the vlei.
Additional Info
Besides for birding around Hlatikulu Vlei it is highly recommended that birders walk the trail up Mount Lebanon . The mist belt forest that exists behind Hlatikulu Mountain is a great place to see Bush Blackcap.
Habitats: consist of crane breeding pens, wetlands, reedbeds, several dams, grasslands.
