Darvill Resources Park

Darvill Resources Park is 100 ha of mixed wetlands, scrub and grassland habitat centred around disused maturation ponds.

Specials to look out for are Baillon's Crake, African Rail, Dark-capped Yellow Warbler, Golden Weaver, Squacco Heron, Little Bittern, Lesser Moorhen, Brown-backed Honeybird, Red-throated Wryneck, Red Phalarope (during 2005) and Spotted Crake (during 2005).

Directions

To get to Darvill from Pietermaritzburg, take the Scottsville/ New England turn-off from the N3 and head east along New England Road . Bear left at the service station and continue until you reach the entrance gate, which is about 2 km beyond the golf course.

Additional Info

The site is accessible to day visitors and a nominal entrance fee is charged. There are marked trails and 3 hides.

Habitats: Mixed wetlands, scrub grassland & maturation ponds.
